What is red, white, and warm as a hug? A Valentine’s Concert! On a cold February 14th, love was in the air as kindergarten and first grade students serenaded their families in Hajjar Auditorium.

For kindergarteners, this was their first trip up the hill to perform at Campus Center, and excitement was high. A single file line of pink and red formed in the kindergarten classrooms and bobbed its way up the long stairs to where their adoring fans waited. Climbing the stage risers, the children beamed at their grownups; if they were nervous, no one watching could tell! The kindergarteners sang their whole program with confidence and panache.

In the afternoon, first graders also ascended the stairs to Hajjar Auditorium to sing their own special songs, including a brand new song that was just written last year.  For many, this was their second Valentine’s Concert, and these veterans shared their advice to newer classmates. “Just smile,” suggested Stella, “because it will make you feel less nervous.” Throughout their program, the first graders showed off their own choreography and sang with their hearts.

And after the concerts, the love just kept coming! Students waited outside for their loved ones to present very special gifts which they created in art class with the help of their teacher, Ms. Christine. Though the D-E campus was covered in snow, the childrens’ gifts of music, art & love warmed everyone’s hearts.
