Samantha Lovett

While Samantha Lovett (’18) is new to the teacher’s aide position to the Lower School, she is familiar with the rest of the D-E community. She attends Colorado College as a political science major, but for this year, she joins us while her campus is closed. She says that while she is sad not to be in college for the year, she feels that her time is best working with young children at D-E. She explains, “While not in college, I wanted to dedicate my free time to people who need me most––that is why I applied for this D-E position––because Lower School children need teachers and teacher’s aides more than ever.” You may recognize her name from D-E music events, and she hopes to help out more with the music classes in the Lower School.  In high school, she worked with young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder at a music therapy clinic. With these skills, she hopes to add to the music program we have here to give the kids more creative time. In Samantha’s free time, she spends her time biking, running, and spending time with her mom. She is thrilled to be back as a teacher’s aid, as well as to see missed professors and faculty this year.

Candice Sun

Ms. Sun joins the Lower School community as an Assistant Teacher. She comes from HudsonWay Immersion School, where she worked as a Head teacher in Preschool and Kindergarten for the past five years. She holds her BS in Bilingual Childhood Education and is currently earning her MS in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Sun has taught children from 2 years old to 5th grade for the past 11 years in Beijing, China and New York. She holds a New York State certification in childhood education with bilingual extension. She also has tutored a range of students in Mandarin. In her free time, she enjoys art, music, hiking, and traveling. D-E’s Values and Vision drew her to the school, particularly children’s growth in respect, honesty, judgment, commitment, courage, and community. Ms. Sun is looking forward to working at D-E and getting to know everyone.
