The month of October has been a busy one, and we have been delighted with the many families who have joined us for our Lower School parent forums.

We began holding October parent forums three years ago that feature Lower School faculty sharing insight about a particular aspect of the curriculum. The intention is to help Lower School families learn more about what students are learning and doing in school while also providing time for families to connect with one another.

Preschool families have learned about the DE Student as Learner Traits and a writing program called Handwriting Without Tears.  In kindergarten through fifth grades teachers have shared about reading and writing workshops, social studies, as well as supplemental programs such as ALEKS, RAZ kids and Dreambox. The forums are also an opportunity to hear from the Lower School Parent Association as well. We are most grateful to Saba Nwankpah and Karen Clune who joined every single forum to represent the PA and invite families to the many wonderful events coming up this fall. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our faculty who stepped away from their students to share about the work taking place in their classrooms.  Our faculty are rightfully proud of the work taking place in their classrooms! Looking forward to seeing more families at the many upcoming events in October and November!
