As fall comes to an end, we prepare ourselves for winter. In addition to walking up to the dining hall for lunch, please remember that the children go outside several times a day. Well-fitting, waterproof boots will serve them well, both during play and outside during recess. Unless medically excused by their doctor, all students will go out with their class for fresh air and the chance to get some exercise. Hats, gloves, and mittens are a daily necessity. Very often, a slip in the snow, or a ride down the slide, results in a very wet outcome. Due to Covid, clothes sharing is discouraged, so please provide a complete change of clothes to be placed into your child’s locker. When snow is anticipated or on the ground, you may send a pair of snow pants for your child to wear during recess. Also, please tuck a chapstick in your child’s pocket, as we are discouraging visits to the health office for nonmedical needs.

Another anticipated need will be extra masks. As masks will get wet during the time spent outside during the winter months, please send in a supply of masks for your child to change into after recess. We have noticed that many students only like a particular type of mask, so it would help to provide them with their favorites. Of course, we always have extras, but they are often happier wearing one that is theirs.

If you have any questions or concerns during our winter break, please feel free to email one of us, and we will respond as soon as possible.

Happy Holidays!
