On February 14, a long line of Kindergarteners dressed in their red, pink & white finery ascended the steps from the Lower School, past the ‘Purple Playground’ and up to Hajjar Auditorium for their special Valentine’s Concert. Passing through bemused high school students twice their height, the kindergarteners were bubbling with excitement for their first-ever school performance.

“I’m nervous, but I’m excited,” admitted Emily. “I’m not nervous, I’m ready,” offered Phineas .  The kindergarten students had been preparing for weeks in music class, and even practiced some of the longer songs in their own homerooms to get ready for this concert.  Just like they practiced, the young Valentine singers walked to the stage and up the risers to their spots – but this time the audience was filled with proud parents and friends beaming back at them.  Nerves melted away as the positive supportive energy in the room lifted the kindergarteners and helped them to sing with their hearts.

Later in the afternoon, the first graders offered their own Valentine’s Concert to family and friends, making the same trek up the big stairs from the Lower School. After weeks of preparation, the 1st graders were ready to share their songs with the people they loved the most, and they sang with great love and expression.  Thank you to everyone who was able to take the time to come in and hear a special musical valentine from the children!
