We’d like to introduce you to our new faculty member, and also reacquaint families with faculty working in new positions this year:
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Teresa Cali (left in photo) to the kindergarten team! Many of you know and remember Mrs. Cali from Preschool 4. She has been a dedicated member of our faculty for twenty-three years and is a passionate voice for early childhood. She is excited to be working alongside the kindergarten team and brings extensive knowledge and experience to this position.
She is thrilled to be serving as the “bridge” teacher between early childhood and elementary programs. She will be working closely with the well-established kindergarten team and is excited to work alongside our learning specialists, Sophia Dorner, and our math specialist, Cecily Gottling. Entering her classroom one immediately senses the warm and nurturing environment she and her colleague Mrs. DelleFave have created. She is so excited to be teaching kindergarten this year! Finally, in addition to being a dedicated teacher, Mrs. Cali is the proud parent of two charming young men.
Mrs. Muus (middle in photo) is a longstanding member of the Dwight-Englewood community. Mrs. Muus will be co-teaching with Karen Geschwer in the Preschool 4 classroom. A graduate of Columbia University’s Barnard College, she holds an advanced degree from Hunter’s Graduate School of Education in NYC. Mrs. Muus has taught preschool, 2nd, and 7th grades in independent schools and has tutored a wide range of students extensively in math, science, and literacy. Most recently, she was the assistant in the first grade and has spent the past three summers as the Exploratorium teacher in D-E’s Summer Connections Program. Mrs. Muus is also the proud parent of D-E alumni and “Lifers” Jack ‘10 and Nick ‘14. In addition to teaching children, Doran loves reading books, swimming laps, walking with her dog, and hiking with her husband John.
Julie Schneider (right in photo)joins the first grade team as an assistant teacher. Ms. Julie hails from Staten Island, New York, and has a BA Elementary Education and Special Education from Seton Hall University. Along with her love of teaching and children, she enjoys reading, traveling, and exercise. Julie is excited to be a part of the Dwight-Englewood community, and is especially excited to work with the first-grade team and students. As a teacher, she is interested in the foundational literacy skills that are such an important part of first grade. You may have met Ms Julie at our Welcome Back Gathering, and she looks forward to meeting everyone at Back To School Night. We could not be happier to welcome her to Dwight-Englewood Lower School!
