We are excited to welcome the following new teachers to our Lower School!

Quin Charity: Lower School sTEm Leader
Quin Charity joins us as the Lower School sTEm Leader. She will be working with students and faculty this year. Ms. Charity comes us to with many years of experience teaching programming, robotics and science in independent schools in New York City. She is excited for the school year and in her first week has been most impressed with the thoughtfulness our students bring to the work.  She has noticed how excited and ready they are to engage with problem-solving, designing and building. She has also noticed our wonderful spaces and facilities and is happy to work in such a lovely setting! Ms. Charity will work with first through fifth grade students, as well as the Lower School faculty, and we are thrilled to welcome her this year.

Holly Goldberg: Grade 3
Holly Goldberg is teaching third grade at the Lower School. She is happy to be here and is very happy to be back in her home state of New Jersey. Mrs. Goldberg has taught first, second, third and fifth grades in both public and independent schools in New York and New Jersey. Mrs. Goldberg has degrees in both elementary education and literacy. She loves reading a good book, traveling, exploring neighborhoods and finding new restaurants to enjoy with friends and family.  She is so excited to be joining the Dwight-Englewood community and has already noticed what a special place we all share, from the beautiful campus to the kindness and warmth of our students, faculty, staff and families.

Cecil Jones: Lower School Art
Cecil Jones is a trilingual artist and art teacher with many years of experience teaching art in various settings in New York City.  Most recently he was a teaching artist at the Studio Museum in Harlem where he taught drawing, digital photography, collage art, knitting and many other skills and topics that he cannot wait to share with Lower School students. Mr. Jones is excited to listen to students and take them where they want to go! His vision as an artist and as a teacher is closely aligned with the mission statement of Dwight-Englewood, and even after just one week of school is excited and inspired by our students and their enthusiasm for learning, thinking and most of all creating.

Nadine Taylor: First Grade
Nadine Taylor joins us this year as a first-grade teacher. Prior to joining the Lower School Ms. Taylor taught kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade in New York City and has a strong background in working with English language learners. It goes without saying that Ms. Taylor loves teaching first grade and is excited about caring for our growing readers, writers and mathematicians, but what you may not know is that she also has a special love for movement and wellness and is looking forward to spending time outside teaching first graders new games and activities. Ms. Taylor has enjoyed meeting the new students and loves her light, airy classroom, the first-grade curriculum and the many opportunities for students to be outside learning and playing. Outside of school, Nadine enjoys exploring museums and attending Broadway shows. She also loves discovering and drinking special blends of tea, so we know she is in right place!
