On Friday, October 29th, the Lower School celebrated Project L.E.A.D., where students and faculty had the option to dress up like a storybook character or author. As soon as the students arrived at Drapkin Hall, they were greeted by balloons, pumpkins, and hay bales. In place of an assembly, students in grades preschool 3 through fourth grade paraded around the Lower School part of campus, while the fifth graders performed spooky songs that they worked on in music class. Please enjoy student quotes about the parade and photos to get a peek into this exciting day.

“We got to see people’s book character costumes on Friday. It made me want to read a new book afterwards. The book I was inspired to read was Who is Malala Yousafzai? I learned that she won three peace prizes!”

“It was a very exciting day, even more exciting than last year. We played a lot of games, and we had a parade.”

“On Friday, I liked that the whole Lower School got to dress up, and that everyone got to see each others’ costumes in the parade!”

“I enjoyed recess because I got to inflate my costume, which was an astronaut from The Space Walk. It made recess a lot more fun!”

“I liked dressing up in costume and seeing everyone else dressed up. I dressed up as Spiderman, from the book Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Jason Reynolds.”
