Artwork by Emma

Our Lower School artists continue to imagine, create, and practice many kinds of artmaking. We have been exploring techniques in digital art, drawing, and photography. Kindergarteners made still life drawings, First Graders tried digital scratch art, Second Graders digitally painted pleasing sunsets, Third Graders made pop art photo collages, and Fourth Graders perfected their shading skills. Most recently, all grades have been focusing on drawing three dimensional shapes. Younger grades have been composing still life drawings and older grades have been using one-point perspective. Going forward we will be making recycled art sculptures, as well as masks and puppets.

Making art with Lower School students continues to be a shining highlight in my day. I am so proud of their perseverance and inspired by their joy and originality. Even more, I am so grateful for how parents and caregivers have been supporting students’ education and artistic growth. I have received many colorful photos of art that adorns your windows and walls. I have also seen the amazing projects that you have been designing for students to make. Thank you for your support, commitment, and dedication. I am so looking forward to making more art with you!
