Some time in February, Preschool-3 was immersed in the study of reflections and shadows.  We looked at the differences between shadows and reflections.  We noticed that we could only see colors in reflections.  We found different surfaces that provided us with reflections.  We set up experiments in the classroom to make the perfect shadow. We noticed how a shadow was blurry when the object was too close to the light source.  We made six-legged dragon shadows on the playground with three friends standing in a row while holding out our arms. We noticed that our shadows followed us no matter what.  All of our shadow work led to a new word: silhouette. The preschoolers were equipped with everything they needed to know to have their silhouettes done.  They knew to sit as far away from the light source as possible.  They also knew that they had to be frozen.  They also knew that their silhouette was a surprise for their moms.  Preschool-3 met the challenge.
